JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB SUMMARY:

Senior Accountant responsibilities include reconciling account balances and bank statements, maintaining general ledger and preparing month-end closing procedures. Senior Accountant duties also include ensuring accuracy and effectiveness in all our accounting tasks. Also may Supervise Accounting and Payroll personnel.

A successful Senior Accountant combines excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles to analyze financial reports and forecasts.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable, receivable and payroll.
  2. Assists with processing payroll and resolving payroll issues.
  3. Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results.
  4. Analyze financial information and summarize financial status.
  5. Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending.
  6. Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures.
  7. Manage Jr staff accountants and payroll clerks.
  8. Prepares journal entries and maintains supporting documentation.
  9. Assists with the preparation, verification, and processing of customer invoices, reconciling customer accounts, resolving discrepancies, and entering customer invoices into accounting software.
  10. Assists with Project management by reconciling contract values and identifying account discrepancies.
  11. Conducts internal credit card reconciliation when required.
  12. Accomplishes accounting human resource objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning,  
  13. Participate in financial standards setting and in forecast process.
  14. Provide input into department’s goal setting process.
  15. Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule.
  16. Assist with tax audits and tax returns.
  17. Assist with internal and external audits to ensure compliance.
  18. Plan, assign and review staff’s work.
  19. Support month-end and year-end close process
  20. Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
  21. Participate in various department-wide initiatives.
  22. Manage Ad-hoc projects as necessary.
  23. Ensure compliance with GAAP principles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. BS degree in Accounting or Finance.
  2. Proven accounting experience at accountant level.
  3. Strong computer skills, MS Excel in particular (managing spreadsheets, creating charts and using advanced formulas).
  4. Excellent analytical skills to manage large amounts of data.
  5. Ability to work independently or as a team member.
  6. Must be able to effectively communicate with employees and maintain a positive working relationship when addressing problems and coming up with solutions.
  7. Attention to detail and accuracy.
  8. Team management skills.
  9. Ability to prioritize work.
  10. Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
  11. In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and DCAA Accounting Requirements and Procedures.
